Julius and Mary are waiting to welcome a child into their heart and home through open adoption. Learn more about them!
We want you to know that we think you are awesome! You are facing a monumental decision; and while we cannot possibly understand how difficult it must be, we also know it is a decision powered by love and care.
Our family is, likewise, fueled by deep compassion. We have always wanted to be parents, and adoption was always in our hearts, as many of our close relatives were adopted as infants.
If you choose us to raise your child, we want you to know that we will love them unconditionally, encourage them follow their passions, and help equip them to make the world a better place.
No matter the path you choose, it is our hope that you are surrounded by love and support.
Julius & Mary
Our Story & How We Met
We met in college in Michigan, on Mary’s first day. Julius was helping new freshman move in, and we quickly became friends. A few months later, we began dating, and have been together ever since! We were married in 2016, surround by friends and family in Michigan. Our wedding day was amazing and one of the happiest days of our lives!
After a year of marriage, we moved from Michigan to Illinois for work, and we have fallen in love with it here. We love our community, our neighborhood and our new friends, and have made this our home.
Julius loves life and everything it has to offer. He values relationships and people over things, and works hard at everything he does. Julius is constantly in motion, going on runs everyday and spending time with others. He loves music, dancing and making Mary laugh! Julius loves learning and having deep conversations with others. He already is proficient in telling dad jokes and can’t wait to use them on his own children.
Mary finds joy in the small things. If it involves dogs or dessert, she’s in! Before moving to Illinois, she was a ballet teacher, and still has a love of the arts. She loves reading, cooking and board games. Mary is passionate about taking care of the environment, and loves sharing sustainable practices with others. Mary is an amateur gardener, and is excited for Julius to have someone to tell his dad jokes too.
Our Home & Community
We live west of Chicago, in a small, diverse neighborhood. Our home has lots of space for a child to run around and play, and we are excited to set up the nursery! We have a great yard for picnics and playing games, and a playground just down the road. We both love being outside, and we have a great porch to sit out and share meals, read, and drink coffee.
Our town is close enough to the city where we can enjoy Chicago, but far enough away where we can also enjoy trips to our local farm and enjoy open green spaces! We often bike to the library, farmers market and coffee shops. We also belong to an amazing church that is very active in transforming our community and serving others.
Much of our family lives back in Michigan, and is excited to welcome the first grandchild! Mary has two older sisters, one of which is married and lives in Illinois. Julius has a larger family, living in Chicago, Michigan and Boston! He has five siblings: Malcolm, Miles, Rick, George and Andy.

Our hope is for our children to know they are safe, cared for and loved. We will encourage them to unlock their hidden potential and change the world around them through lifelong exploration. We will walk alongside them as they explore their passions and talents, whether it be ballet or running (like us!) or something completely new. As a family, we value sustainability, diversity, inclusion, faith, community, and kindness; we promise to pass those values on to our children.
Most importantly, we promise that your child will always know how much love you have for them. We plan to raise this child with a special understanding and appreciation for you, so you will always be a part of their story.
